| | History of the International Finn Association 1971-86 | | For the IFA, 1971 was a year of political unrest. The main issue was the question of which masts should be used at the 1972 Olympic regatta in Kiel. The President Vernon Stratton (from the UK) supported the notion to use the new aluminium Needlespar masts (made in the UK) because David Hunt said that they would be perfectly uniform.

| | History of the International Finn Association 1959-70 | | For the first time in the history of yachting more than 100 boats gathered for a regatta -at the 1959 Gold Cup in Hellerup, north of Copenhagen, in front of the home of Elvstrom. Paul was the host and dominator of the event. At the AGM it was decided not to collect any payments for one year, since there was no good use for the money already collected in the previous years. Everyone agreed that a Finn bulletin as required in the Finn rules would be a good thing. However nobody was prepared to be the Editor. |
| | History of the International Finn Association 1950-58 | | It is not easy to handle the different aspects of the history of the Finn. There are many different points of view upon the subject. It is possible to sort out some of them and to cover them in special chapters, like the technical development or the history of the most important regattas. However the administrative aspect turned out to be most central and interrelated with all other matters. It reflects in detail the motivation of the leading people in the Finn Class. Therefore this chapter might bear the subtitle of 'General History of the Finn'.

| | The Finnster | | Throughout the world there is a dedicated group of the finest sailors in the world known as 'Finnsters'. They take pride in their class, their ability, their stamina, and their competitive spirit. They are trying to be the 'best' and want the tough competition in the Finn Class. There are classes which are sailed by many more people but there are no classes which have more devoted sailors. |
